A path to healing and connection

Emotional support groups aim to restore the emotional resources of Ukrainian refugees and help them process traumatic experiences through group interaction. These groups provide a structured and supportive environment for emotional recovery and community connection.

Understanding trauma and its impact

Trauma experienced by refugees often leads to challenges such as disrupted attachment, feelings of isolation, and difficulty connecting with others. It can also impair symbolic thinking, making it harder to adapt to new cultural norms, learn a new language, or express personal thoughts. Additionally, trauma may result in emotional instability, reduced empathy, and a loss of connection with one's emotions.

Effectiveness of group therapy

Emotional support groups have proven to be effective in creating meaningful change for participants. They help reduce feelings of isolation, boost hope and emotional stability, nurture a sense of belonging, and support the process of emotional transformation and regulation.

Through shared experiences and mutual understanding, these groups offer a safe space for individuals to rebuild their emotional well-being and connect with others on a deeper level.

Emotional Support for Adults and Young Adults (16-21)

We offer two types of emotional support groups - one for adults and another specifically for young adults aged 16-21. Adults often navigate responsibilities related to family, career, and rebuilding stability, while young adults face the complexities of identity formation, independence, and adapting to a new environment during a critical stage of personal growth. Emotional support for both groups provide a space to process these chalanges and displacement-related trauma.

Creating a safe and trusting environment

One of the primary goals of emotional support groups is to establish a trusting and safe space. In this environment, Ukrainians can openly express their thoughts and emotions, share experiences, and feel connected to others. The focus is on fostering open communication, mutual understanding, and empathy within the group.
